What this journey

This remote private expedition travels through Novo Airão and the Anavilhanas archipelago into Jaú National Park, one of the largest protected forest areas in Brazil. It is for travellers who value time, patience and access to genuinely remote Amazon waterways.
Days are shaped by long boat journeys, wildlife observation, forest walks and simple hammock camps. The exact route is adapted to water levels, park access, weather and the interests of the group rather than forced into a rigid sightseeing timetable.
The experience
A journey shaped
by the living forest.
Leave Manaus around 08:30 for Novo Airão, arrange the park permit and have lunch. Continue by boat through Anavilhanas and camp near historic Velho Airão.
Enter Jaú National Park and travel upriver to the Carabinani rapids for lunch, then continue to a remote riverside base for dinner and the night.
Move deeper along the Jaú River, watching the riverbanks and forest canopy as conditions allow. Establish camp and explore carefully after dark.
Spend a full day walking in the forest with Antonio, preparing lunch at camp and fishing before dinner.
Explore creeks and river channels by boat, with slow wildlife observation in the morning and afternoon.
Begin the return through the park, continuing to watch for birds, primates and other wildlife along the waterways.
Return through Novo Airão and continue to Manaus. The programme can be shortened or extended between six and eight days according to conditions and your plan.
