What this journey
is really like.
Four days at Jardim Maravilha create space for both active exploration and the slower details of life beside the Rio Preto da Eva. The simple lodge sits in the São José community, around 104 km from Manaus, and welcomes individuals, families and small groups.
The lodge has six chalets with private bathrooms, plus 110V electricity, Wi-Fi and a restaurant. The longer programme adds a waterfall trek and the option to leave the lodge for a night in a hammock camp beneath the forest canopy.
The experience
A journey shaped
by the living forest.
Leave your Manaus hotel at 07:00 and see the Meeting of the Waters before continuing to Rio Preto da Eva. Explore the local market, then travel by small aluminium boat through rainforest creeks to Jardim Maravilha. After lunch, visit a local home and nearby fruit and vegetable plantations before dinner at the lodge.
Leave at 05:30 for sunrise and wildlife watching, then return for breakfast. Antonio leads a forest walk covering survival techniques, medicinal plants and palm-leaf craft. After lunch, travel by motorised canoe for piranha fishing; at 18:30, head out again for caiman spotting and nocturnal wildlife.
Walk through the forest to a waterfall, learning about the area on the way, then return to the lodge for lunch. At 14:00, guests who choose the optional forest camp continue into the jungle, prepare dinner and spend the night in hammocks beneath the canopy.
After breakfast, leave the hammock camp and walk back to Jardim Maravilha while learning the traditional technique of climbing with rope made from palm leaves. Have lunch at the lodge, depart around 13:00 and reach Manaus at approximately 17:30.
